The recipient of the Star of the Southeast for Florida is known for her perseverance and attention to detail.
She researched and printed a history of her chapter; researched and created a booklet listing all the schools in Florida that were named for women; and beautifully presented the Ceremony of Remembrance at the Florida State Convention nine years ago.
Our recipient taught science for 29 years and was awarded the “Outstanding Florida Science Teacher” by the Florida Association of Science Teachers.
In her chapter, she served as president and participated in committees wherever she was needed for over 45 years.
At the State level, she served as committee chairman of By-Laws, World Fellowship, Membership, and the Necrology Ceremony. She also served as a member of many state committees including Nominations, Professional Affairs, Research, Scholarships, and Arts and Crafts. She was a presenter at the Florida Leadership Seminar for 4 years.
She helped plan and execute the Florida Breakfasts and Luncheons at numerous DKG Southeast Regional Conferences and International Conventions throughout the country.
Our recipient was born in Pennsylvania. She earned her B.S. degree from Geneva College and earned her MEd degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Our recipient became a member of Beta Omega Chapter in 1976 in Pinellas County Florida. During her chapter presidency, she undertook the project of buying hearing aids for children.
Her most important qualities include being gracious, encouraging and supportive. She has truly been an inspiration to many others.
