2026 Committee News

The Florida State Leadership Committee conducts a biennial Leadership Seminar, presents breakout sessions at State and District Meetings, and provides leadership opportunities to all members.

The Florida Jesslyn McBride Leadership Seminar is held every two years in June. The next Leadership Seminar will be held June 21-24, 2026, at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary. Seminar sessions address relevant leadership concepts and best practices in today’s educational environment. The seminar also includes time for personal self-reflection and goal setting as well as the opportunity to network and share DKG successes and challenges. 
We are accepting applications from January to April 3, 2026. Use the link above or scan the QR code at an upcoming District Meeting. Feel free to connect with one of our committee members to learn more. The deadline to register is April 3, 2026.

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by the end of April.  Participants in the Leadership Seminar are asked to pay the $150 registration fee which helps to offset the cost of the seminar, which is covered by our state organization. Many chapters choose to pay for one or two members to attend. If you have ever attended the seminar, you might consider paying it forward for a future participant. Anyone can contribute any amount, either in memory of or in honor of someone, or as a chapter gift. Donations can be sent to FL State Treasurer Beverly Stagg with a request to designate it for the seminar.

The seminar runs from mid-afternoon on Sunday until noon on Wednesday. Much like a retreat, participants are expected to commit to the whole time. Lodging is provided and participants are paired with a roommate. We ask participants to be open to the full experience—many roommates turn into lifelong DKG friends! All meals are covered except for one night when participants are free to go out to eat on their own.
